Tenby's Got Talent 2014 (Revisited)

It was a miserable rainy night at this year's 'Tenby's Got Talent,' but that certainly didn't dampen the enthusiasm and enjoyment of both audience and performers at this years talent show. On the contrary, with a slight alteration to the stage set up, a better connection was made between performers and audience resulting in a superb night! Thank you to our judges for the night who were Mr Duncan, Ms Paula, and Ms Sarah, and very well done to everyone who took part. Special congratulations go to Kai Stewart, 'The Swaggy Potatoes', and the 'In Choons' who all won a free trip to Ipoh and the much anticipated 'Tenby Music Festival' taking place in January 2015.

Tenby Schools National Music Festival 2015

January 2015 witnessed Tenby Schools first EVER National Music Festival, and sixteen students from Tenby (Penang) were lucky enough to take part! We joined over one hundred and thirty other students from Tenby Ipoh, Setia Eco Park, Setia Eco Gardens, and Miri, for a weekend of musical fun, excitement, and interaction. A wide range of music workshops were offered to students on the first day including 'The Mystery of Improvising,' 'Songs from Musicals and Pop,' 'African Drumming,' and 'Rock & Pop Ensemble,' which culminated in a top quality concert the very same evening. In this concert, the National finals of Tenby's Got Talent also took place with Penang's own finalists (Kai Stewart, The Swaggy Potatoes, and the In Choons) competing at National level. A very proud moment for Tenby (Penang) came when the In Choons took second place overall to win a very fine looking trophy and RM300 cold hard cash!

Spring Concert 2015

In April 2015, Tenby Penang held its first ever Spring Concert, which proved to be a massive success. This was the first concert to be held under the cover of the Basketball court where over 500 students and parents crowded in to enjoy sophisticated finger food and mocktails (supplied by our very hard working Parents Association, TSPA), and top quality musical entertainment from over 46 talented Tenby students! Performances ranged from Minuets by J.S. Bach, to more contemporary pieces from the classical and film music genres. It was a great evening and now another quality addition to Tenby's annual concert programme. Well done to everyone who took part!

Straits Quay - Grease Preview Performance

To promote our upcoming production of Grease, we took to the stage at Straits Quay on Saturday 27th June to perform a preview for the public. This was the very first time that band and cast had worked together in the last three months of rehearsals, but you would never have known. All the performers put on a great show and managed to draw in a big crowd.

Musical Production 2015 - Grease

On Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of July, TISS and STSS students produced, staged, lit up, played and performed in this year’s fantastic production of Grease, drawing in an audience of over 500 across the two evenings. The final shows were a resounding success, with one audience member confirming that it was Tenby’s best musical production yet! From the massively talented cast of 25 students from all year groups, to the backstage team who handled everything from the lighting to the catering, the students gave the audience an unforgettable experience that had them singing along and humming 'You’re the One that I Want' long after the final curtain. Huge thanks to all staff and parents who were involved in the running of the event; special thanks to the band who gave up time from their busy schedules; and a particular thank you to Ms Fay, Ms Carolyn, and Mr Nick for their untiring efforts in bringing it all together. We hope to see you all at next year’s performance and remember… Grease is the word!

Year 11 IGCSE Music Coursework Recording @ Hits Recording Studio 2015

Year 11 IGCSE music students once again took to the recording studio to lay down their 'Ensemble Performance' coursework tracks with the expert supervision of Mr Fong and Mr Dinesh. 'Hits Recording Studio' on Jalan Fettes is owned and run by the ever generous Mr Fong who allows Tenby students free use of the studio every year. Thanks again Mr Fong - you are a star!!!

Tenby's Got Talent 2015

This years Tenby's got Talent was another massive success with a truly fantastic variety of talent acts across all four schools in Tenby. The audience were blown away by the level of talent shown by all the students that took part, and everyone who participated should be exceptionally proud of themselves for getting themselves up on stage and into the spotlight (no easy feat!). This year's show also saw the first competition between parents and teachers with two very entertaining acts. The teachers are still a bit annoyed at NOT emerging victorious but the Parent Band fully deserved to win with the extremely well choreographed Christmas song and dance medley! Congratulations also go out to Kai Stewart and Ethan Chua for winning the Primary section who will be off to see Disney on Ice at Penang's Spice Arena in March. They will also be joined by the Primary runners up Marisa De Padua and Elleyna Lei. Thanks to PR Worldwide Live for donating the tickets. In the Secondary section, congratulations to Desi Kamdrawati for winning best dance act, and the Chew family band 'All Chewed Up' (Gem, Rayne, Art and Iise) for winning best music act!

Spring Concert 2016

After the success of last year's Spring Concert, we decided to organise the event again for 2016, and what an amazing night it was too! This year, the number of performers nearly doubled to over seventy students who fearlessly got on stage to play a wide variety of music, from choirs to guitar ensembles, duets to acoustic unplugged rock bands! The level of confidence and talent evident from the students in Tenby continues to astound all staff and parents, and this concert was another great celebration of it. Of course, the evening wouldn't have been the same without the amazing ladies of the parent's association (TSPA) providing our massive audience with finger food and mocktails, so a big thank you also goes out to them. Thanks again to everyone who came along to the evening to show your support, and to our fantastic performers - you should all be VERY proud of yourselves!!!

'Tenby in Harmony' performs Carmina Burana at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas 2016

On Sunday 8th May 2016, after months and months of hard work, the 'Tenby in Harmony' choir (consisting of staff and students from the five Tenby Schools across Malaysia), finally came together to give a mind blowing performance of the epic Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. The performance took place at the magnificent Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, Kuala Lumpur, home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. The idea of putting on a music performance of such a large scale was initially thought up by Mr Andrew Auster (principal at Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park), who has worked tirelessly to arrange, coordinate, and conduct the choir and orchestra. The performance was a fantastic success and an unforgettable experience to all of us who took part!

Whole School Production 2016 - 'Rock of Ages - High School Edition'

On Wednesday 19th October and 20th October, the amazingly talented students of Tenby Schools Penang, finally performed the musical 'Rock of Ages.' Students had been spending months practicing and rehearsing this very difficult musical with Ms Carolyn (Director), Mr Nick (Musical Director), and Ms Hannah (Producer) and the resulting performance was humorous, energetic, professional, and a lot of fun! An enormous 'WELL DONE' to all of you who took part, and thanks again to everyone who supported the show and came to watch at PenangPac!

Tenby's got Talent 2017

It was a fantastic night of performances from Primary and Secondary students from both National and International Schools. We had solo singers, recorder players, bands, acapella singers, and dancers, who all tried their best to win the title of Tenby's got Talent 2017. Well done to everyone who took part and don't worry if you didn't win this year - there's always 2018!

Rock Concert 2017 - BATTLE OF THE BANDS!!!

What better way to end the school year than with a Rock Concert to showcase the amazing skills and talents of our wonderful students! And this year, there was the added bonus of the first ever National Inter school 'Battle of the Bands' competition featuring bands from the Tenby Schools all over Malaysia! Our judges picked apart each of their performances, but of course only one band could emerge victorious, and it was the very rocking Tenby Miri!!!! They left Penang with a trophy, medals, RM50 Yamaha Music vouchers, and a visit to Hits Recording Studio to lay down their winning song and have their own professional recording to take home. They even got into the newspapers on the way home where their performed once again on their AirAsia flight to the other lucky passengers! Well done to them, and well done to everyone who performed on the night - you were ALL winners!!! Keep on rockin!
